Puppies first dog grooming

Puppies first groom is important and you want it to go well, a negative experience could stay with them for some time.

Getting a puppy in for a groom by the age of 8 weeks is a great first step in getting them used to pet grooming.

These early first few weeks puppies are exploring the world, and if this becomes their norm they won’t question it.

We recommend getting your puppy in for their first haircut at approximately 4 – 6 months old.

Book your first appointment with Lisa

Lisa is one of the only few stylists that is fully accredited, why settle for anything less?

Your first dog grooming appointment with Lisa will be a little longer than subsequent visits, as Lisa will take the time to make your pup feel at home. Lisa will build trust with your furry friend, making them feel as comfortable as possible. This will go a long way to putting your pup at ease, which is important when you consider most dogs require grooming every 4 – 8 weeks.

But if you are a little nervous about your puppies first groom there are a few things you can do at home to prepare them.

Teaching your puppy, the basics will go a long way to getting them ready for pet grooming.

We suggest you start by touching your dog all over so they are comfortable with being handled. Do this daily until you feel your pup is comfortable. Once they are comfortable, try brushing their coat gently. Something as simple as this can go a long way to giving them a positive pet grooming experience.

Getting your puppy socialised with dog grooming early on will make it a more pleasurable experience for you and them.

Call Lisa today if you have any questions, she is the ‘go to’ pet stylist on the Gold Coast.
